Abstract
The sequential changes of the forced blood elements, and coagulation factors, which
occur during storage of blood in glass bottle with acid citrate dextrose anticoagulant
preservative for 29 days have teen examined. Prolongation of the storage time by acid
citrate dextrose results in low hemoglobin, hematocrit, white blood cell count and platelet
count, and prolongation of the prothrombin time, partial thromboplastin time and
recalcification time. Factor ¥´. decreased rapidly to less than 30% by day 2 and less
then 10% by day 5. Fibrinogen decreased to about 70% by day 3. Literatures about
blood preservation were briefly reviewed.
